Mark Cubberley BVetMed Cert EM (IntMed) MRCVS
Mark qualified from the Royal Veterinary College of London in 1992 and brings with him a wealth of experience and knowledge, including the Certificate in Equine Internal Medicine.
He has worked in several equine practices in both Great Britain and Ireland both as an assistant and partner. In 2003, Mark was appointed by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons as an examiner for the Certificate in Equine Internal Medicine and became senior examiner in 2006. He has been awarded prizes for case presentations by both Western counties division of the British Veterinary Association and the Association of Veterinary Surgeons Practicing in Northern Ireland.
He has wide experience in most areas of equine practice and has particular interests in gastric ulcer syndrome, stud medicine, ophthalmology and dermatology. As well as working with horses, he has ridden since childhood involving hunting, pony club and racing and competed in point-to-point racing, polo and show-jumping amongst other things.
Iain McKenzie BVM&S MRCVS
Iain McKenzie qualified from the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, Edinburgh in 1999. He received a class medal for reproductive studies and completed electives in soft tissue surgery and respiratory tract disorders.
His first position was in a busy mixed practice in Loch Lomond, Scotland. After two and a half busy years his equine interests took him, at first as an intern, to the Troytown Equine Hospital in Ireland, a renowned centre of equine excellence. Subsequently he was then employed as an assistant for 10 months.
Iain has now been with us at the Straight Mile Equine Centre since September 2003. His areas of interest are the diagnosis, management and surgey of lameness conditions along with equine internal medicine. He is currently studying for a certificate in equine orthopaedics.
Leisure interests include rugby, socialising and outdoor pursuits, where he might be seen running around the Scottish countryside with his son Sam and dog 'Orchy' chasing the fabled haggis!
Luis Louro DVM MRCVS
Luis completed his degree in Veterinary Medicine in June 2011 and visited hospitals in the USA, Belgium, Spain and UK to finish his studies. He then worked in Portugal were he started to develop his interests in lameness, surgery and anaesthesia and undertook an internship at the renowned Veterinair Centrum Someren in the Netherlands.
After finishing his internship Luis moved to the UK in 2013 to a practice in Buckinghamshire and joined Scott Dunn’s in August 2014. In his spare time Luis likes to play guitar and spend time with his friends.
Yolanda Serrano Romero Ldo Vet MRCVS.
Yolanda qualified in 2005 from the University of Murcia (Spain) and the Ecole Nationale Veterinaire du Nantes (France). After five years as a freelance vet at home, she came to the UK to perform an externship at Donnington Grove Veterinary Group (Newbury). After that, she joined a busy racehorse practice in Lambourn (Berkshire) for almost three years before coming to Scott Dunn's in December 2014.
She is currently studying to obtain a Certificate in Internal Medicine from the University of Liverpool. Her main professional interest are internal medicine and neonatology.
On the personal front, she enjoys cooking with her husband and walking with their two Spaniels Chinchon and Chili, and the naughty Spanish Terrier Quilla.
Marta Garin MRCVS
Marta developed a great passion for horses at an early age entering in show-jumping competitions until she joined the University Vasco da Gama in Portugal to be an equine veterinarian where she graduated in July 2012.
She enriched her experience in equine medicine in hospitals within Spain, Netherlands, France and Brazil and later worked for two years as an Associate with one of the busiest equine veterinarians in Portugal mostly in show-jumping and dressage horses.
During her free time Marta likes to travel, practice yoga and surf. She likes to spend time with her family and friends and she is inseparable from her lovely Weimaraner ‘Yoga’.
Chris Neal MRCVS
Chris joins us from a busy equine practice in Northamptonshire. Having grown up in Surrey, he is especially excited to be working close to home again.
His interests centre around Equine Sports Medicine and Poor Performance evaluations and is studying for a certificate to further his knowledge in the area.
In his spare time, he is a keen hockey player and golfer and enjoys ticking off his challenge of visiting 100 countries before he is 50. We look forward to welcoming him to the team in October.
