Prescriptions

Prescriptions are available from us.

You may obtain relevant medicinal products from a veterinary surgeon OR ask for a prescription and obtain these medicines from another veterinary surgeon or a pharmacy. Your veterinary surgeon may prescribe relevant veterinary medicinal products only following a clinical assessment of an animal under their care.

A prescription may not be appropriate if your horse is an in-patient or immediate treatment is necessary. You will be informed, on request, of the price of any medicine that may be prescribed for your horse. The general policy of this practice is to re-assess a horse requiring repeat prescriptions for/supplies of relevant veterinary medicinal products every 3 to 6 months, but this may vary with individual circumstances.

The standard charge for a re-examination and further information on the prices of medicines is available on request. If you require a written prescription for medication to get fulfilled somewhere other than Scott Dunn’s Equine Clinic, please ensure that 3 days notice is given. A written prescription fee will apply.

Please ask a member of staff for the price of our current fee when enquiring about, or requesting, a prescription. Any medicines or written prescriptions should be collected within 7 days and must be paid for on collection.
